Play, Make, Create.

For this week's Play, Make, Create we read the book Theadore the Unsure by Pip Smith. I chose to do the make task. I partnered up with Lexie and we made a jewelry Box to help him handle his humongous mane. We made some hairclips that actually stay in your hair! We made two combs, four hair ties that you can tie your hair up with, four headbands, scissors, a razor, and a spray bottle. Something that worked well was the hairclips because they can actually stay in your hair. If I could change anything it would be to make them more colorful instead of just plain cardboard.

Kite Day

Last Friday was kite day, where you make a kite and try to fly it. Lexie and I partnered up and made a kite together. In our kite, we had bamboo in a cross shape and wrapped it in black silage wrap. We added two holes and some string. We went outside to try to fly it and we had no luck. We went back inside and took the silage wrap off and noticed our bamboo had snapped. I had a backup plan so we tried that, but Lexie wanted to fix our old one so she did that while I made my new one. My backup plan was to get a piece of bamboo and tape a plastic bag on also attach string and a tail. Lexie managed to fix our kite by taping the bamboo back together and wrapping it in silage wrap again. I managed to have a little try to fly my kite, but it wouldn't fly. After all, it wasn't really windy at all sadly. It was time to fly our kites and because it was not windy we got each class to just run across the field and try to make them fly. Not many people's kites did fly, but two or three...

Play, Make, Create, Term 2 Week 2.

For this weeks Play, Make, Create, we read the book Be You. The book Be You was based on being you no matter how different you are. We had four tasks to choose from and I chose Design. We were allowed to work in buddies so I chose Abby. The design task was design something adventurous. Abby and I decided to make a drawing of things that are adventurous. We drew some people climbing the tallest mountain, hiking through the biggest jungle, and swimming in the coldest, deepest lake. If we could of added somthing else I would of added more people and coloured in the backrounds, but I think it still looks great. Somthing that worked well was the layout of how we put them on the paper.

Term 2 Week 1 2021

During Term 1 we have been practising our addition and subtraction knowledge through the online programme called NumBots.  At the start, it was super easy but progressively got more challenging. I am now on level Silver on NumBots.   I enjoy NumBots because it is really fun and you are learning at the same time. What I find challenging is completing the levels now because they are getting harder and longer as I go along. This week we have started TTRockstars.  This is an online programme which helps us to learn our timetables. First, we had to complete 10 Studio games which were really hard because they had basic facts right up to 12 x 12. Now that the hard part is over we can play in the Garage and start learning our tables. I think that TTRockstars will be a hard as well as a fun programe and I will learn a lot more of my times tables.

For this week's play, make, create we read the book Up The Creek. The book was based on teamwork. We had four tasks to choose from. I buddied up with Lexie and we decided to choose the create task which is to make something to help the three animals communicate better. We made a calendar to show who gets to choose what to do on each day because they all ways disagree with each other. The order of the animals worked well but we could only fit 28 days on our calendar so we made it February. There was a spelling mistake with one of the words but we know what it is.
