Whetu Fun Day Week 9

 Last Thursday we had a Whetu Fun Day as our camp was postponed.  Our teachers planned a fun day for us instead!  We participated in a Whetu Amazing Race, a range of different fun rotations, a BBQ lunch, and play on the council playground then we finished the day with an Easter Egg hunt and an ice block.


My favourite part of the Amazing Race was going into Play Centre and taking a selfie at the sandpit. It brang back some memories. In my team, I had Lexie, Abby, Chloe, Sophie, and Stella. Our team was called the Rabbitohs.


The rotation I enjoyed the most was the Stem Challenge, Lola and I decided to do the tower challenge it was harder than it sounded. First, we scrunched up some newspaper and then we saw what the people next to a was doing so we decided to do what they were doing and roll it up and slot them together. We got help from the team next to us. Finally, theirs was a lot taller than ours, but we were very proud of ourselves.


During the Easter Egg Hunt, I found my stick under one of the newly planted trees. It was not too hard and Lexie found hers underneath the tree next to me. We ran back and got our ice block and chocolate egg. My ice block flavour was lemonade. I wanted lime, but that's what I got, and my chocolate egg was really yummy and I tried my hardest to keep it hard and not melted.

    You have included so much detail about our super fun day - way to go! I really love the selfie you guys took at the Playcentre. Your mum was so awesome coming in at the last minute - she was a life saver!

Play, Make, Create.

  For this week's Play, Make, Create I worked by myself, but alongside Stella and Sophie. We read the story The Three Billy Goats Gruff. One of the options was to create a new problem and solve it. Mrs Heaven said she had a problem that her fence had fallen over in the wind and cows were coming into her backyard so Stella, Sophie and I decided we could have a scarecrow that held pots and pans in its hands so when the wind blew they would bang together and scare the cows away. We made a miniature version of each of our scarecrows, we used fabric for the clothes and cardboard for the body. We then used sequins for the eyes and a bead for the nose and wool for the hair and mouth. If I could change anything it would be a bit bigger, but that is all I would change. I am very proud of my scarecrow and I hope Mrs Heaven tries our idea.

Play, Make, Create.

  For this week's Play, Make, Create we read the book Theadore the Unsure by Pip Smith. I chose to do the make task. I partnered up with Lexie and we made a jewelry Box to help him handle his humongous mane. We made some hairclips that actually stay in your hair! We made two combs, four hair ties that you can tie your hair up with, four headbands, scissors, a razor, and a spray bottle. Something that worked well was the hairclips because they can actually stay in your hair. If I could change anything it would be to make them more colorful instead of just plain cardboard.

Chapter Chat 9.9.21

  For this week's Chapter Chat, I worked with Stella, and designed a poisonous lipstick that has Inland Taipan Snake venom in it. Inland Taipan Snakes are the most venomous animals in the world. We named it The Death Kiss. There are 10 different beautiful colours and you are sure to make some people jealous with your gorgeous lips. It does not poison your lips only your skin.
